I Hate These Things

They say that if you have a home in the MidWest, you have some brown recluses living with you. IMO, loxosceles reclusa are evil phuckers. They can live for two years in a closed box with no food or water. That is just evil.
They're hard to kill, and like to hide in dark places like shoes and folded clothing. About the only way to kill 'em is to spray poison directly on them or put down glue traps. The little black jumpy spiders (Daring Jumping Spiders) are our friends, though - they eat these things by the truckload. So don't spray for spiders - browns don't groom themselves, so poison will only kill 'em if it is sprayed right on 'em, and the residue WILL kill the spiders that eat browns, having the opposite effect on recluse population you intended. Glue traps are about the only thing that works.
This bastard was in a large plastic bowl that had fallen behind the toilet, too slick to get out of, and the smaller one was unlucky enough to get in there with her. These things are cannibals, too. Couldn't happen to a nicer critter, IMO.
